Why Does My Bank Connection Expire?

If you've seen a "Login Expired" or "Bank Credentials Expired" message on Bitcoin Well, this article explains why it happens and how to fix it in a few steps.

Why Does This Happen

Bank connections on Bitcoin Well are managed through Plaid, a trusted third-party service that links your bank account to our platform. From time to time, this connection can expire due to:

  • Your bank updating its internal security settings.
  • Plaid requiring periodic re-authentication to maintain a secure link.
  • A routine security refresh between your bank and Bitcoin Well.

None of these mean something is wrong with your account. It's simply your bank and Plaid keeping things secure.

How To Fix It

In most cases, a quick bank re-link is all it takes to get things back on track.
To reconnect your bank, log in to your Bitcoin Well account and navigate to your payment methods. From there, remove your current bank connection and add it back using your banking credentials.

Tip: If you run into trouble on mobile, try completing the re-link on a desktop or laptop for a smoother experience.

Still Having Trouble

If re-linking your bank doesn't resolve the issue, it may be a temporary connection problem between Bitcoin Well and Plaid. Reach out to our support team at hello@bitcoinwell.com and we'll get it sorted out.
Enable independence.
