How To Change Blockchain Fee Settings

This feature is only available to our 🇨🇦 Canadian Customers

Everything you need to know about transaction fees, how they work, and when to adjust them.

What Are Blockchain Fee Settings

Blockchain fee settings determine how quickly Bitcoin Well sends your bitcoin transaction to you. Bitcoin Well never holds onto your bitcoin, so incoming dollars are instantly converted and sent your way. Since bitcoin fees constantly change, sometimes paying a little extra is the fastest way to get your transaction through quickly.

What Is The Default Setting

Your account's default fee setting is "Low - free." This means the transaction fee is on us, and your bitcoin goes out during our routine daily batch at 4:00 AM Mountain Time.
Most of the time, bitcoin fees are low and the "Low - free" setting will have your bitcoin arriving within an hour. It's the best option for saving on fees when there's no urgency.

When Should I Change My Fee Settings

If fees are elevated and you need your bitcoin quickly, you can switch to a higher fee setting to bump your transaction up in priority. The faster the setting, the sooner your bitcoin arrives, even during busy network conditions.
A higher fee won't change how much bitcoin you receive, it just moves your transaction to the front of the line.

How To Change Your Blockchain Speed

  1. Log in to Bitcoin Well and click "Manage Account."
  2. Click "Blockchain Speed."
  3. Select your desired fee setting. Note that the "Instant" fee changes based on current network conditions.
